Chi Kinjo is set in the memory of a time in Kyoto; a time when chaos was the mandate & danger was foretold. While an unassuming crowd gathered over sushi rolls & izakaya in a small alley restaurant, a bar hidden underneath that restaurant housed a secret love story.

Kickback over a signature highball or a carafe of sake, two or three. As you sip your way into bliss, order up plates of modernised sushi rolls and refreshed Izakaya favourites to share.

Playful, refined and tongue-in-cheek, the menu draws inspiration from the history of Americanised Japanese cuisine. Designed to elevate an old-time cuisine, the menu presents a selection of sushi and Izakaya classics refreshed with contemporary flavours to suit the modern palate. Dining highlights at Chi Kinjo are the signature sushi rolls including The Crouching Tiger Roll with prawns done three ways for a texturous bite, and Salmon Cheesy Roll; a perennial favourite combination of cheese, salmon sashimi, ikura and deep fried salmon skin. Other delectable standouts include a selection of Aburi Nigiri, Hamachi Carpaccio and Ming Dynasty Seafood Tofu for flavour bursts of umami.

Across the weekdays, lunch hours are open with signature Sushi Sandwiches for a breezy meal, or opt for Bento sets for a hearty full suite.

For those in search for drinking hideout, Chi Kinjo houses a basement bar with just a few steps down the entrance. The signature of this secret den, is its selection of highballs. Crafted by Group Chief Bartender Sam Wong, the list presents refreshing interpretations of the classic to complement the meal and for post-work drinks. Flanked with a wall of sake bottles on display, explore the sake menu or opt for the usual beer, wine or spirit of choice.

Located right in the heart of the CBD, Chi Kinjo is the place to be for ever-flowing drinks till bliss. Daily happy hours are from 5pm - 8pm with Nomi-Masho! (“let’s drink” in Japanese), the $5 guzzle and grub of whisky highballs, house spirits, house wines and delicious mini sashimi bowls for grubs. For the beer drinkers, swing by early and be rewarded with Beat-the-Clock beer specials.
